Tilapia Fish Recipes

Tilapia Fish and Sample of Tilapia Dish

About Tilapia
Tilapia is the common name for nearly a hundred species of cichlid fishes from the tilapiine cichlid tribe. Tilapias inhabit a variety of fresh and, less commonly, brackish water habitats from shallow streams and ponds through to rivers, lakes, and estuaries. Most tilapias are omnivorous with a preference for soft aquatic vegetation and detritus. They have historically been of major importance in artisanal fishing in Africa and the Levant, and are of increasing importance in aquaculture around the world (see tilapia in aquaculture). Where tilapia have been deliberately or accidentally introduced, they have frequently become problematic invasive species (see tilapia as exotic species). (from wikipedia encyclopedia)

(by snufe-better recipes.com)

Ingredients

  • 4 tilapia or other white fish fillets
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons coconut or cooking oil
  • Paprika
  • Dash seasoning salt
  • Ground black pepper
  • Snipped fresh parsley
Method

Marinate filets in lemon juice and orange juice for 20 minutes in the refrigerator. Heat oven 425 degrees Take fish out of marinade and arrange on a broiler pan (discard marinade). Drizzle fish with oil. Season lightly with paprika and salt. Broil 4 inches from the heat for 4 to 6 minutes per 1/2-inch thickness of fish. Sprinkle with pepper and parsley before serving.

Notes: Try not to over-cook and your fish will be great. Coconut oil will not be overwhelming but noticeable and this fish is perfect for a not-so-seafood-loving person. A good part of a healthy dinner!!!
